Interdisciplinary Modelling and Assessment of Multifunctionality

Abstract

The current public and political discussion concerning multifunctionality of landscapes calls for decision support systems, which illustrate the consequences of different courses of action. The paper presents such a system for evaluating landscapes combining the land use model Pro- Land, the ecological model ANIMO, the hydrological model SWAT and the valuation framework CHOICE. Main focus is on ProLand and CHOICE. Changes in land use, value added, labour input, gamma diversity, direct water flow and a corresponding cost-benefit analysis are presented for a scenario of changing field sizes in a study area.
