Enseignement supérieur et croissance économique. Analyse économétrique de l’hypothèse d’Aghion & Cohen

Abstract

Malgré le rôle essentiel conféré au capital humain par les théories de la croissance endogène, diverses études empiriques ont remis en cause ces théories. Pour Aghion et Cohen (2003) le rôle de l’éducation sur la croissance varie selon le degré de développement du pays. En prolongement de précédents travaux (Diebolt & Jaoul ; Jaoul ; 2004), l’objectif de cet article est de tester économétriquement les apports des théories de la croissance endogène et de mettre en évidence l’hypothèse d’Aghion et Cohen. Par une comparaison internationale depuis 1950, nous montrons que contrairement à la France, qui ne présente pas de relation entre l’enseignement supérieur et la croissance économique, le Japon et les Etats-Unis affichent un lien entre ces deux agrégats.
