Abstract

Die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit deutscher Wirtschaftsräume wird vor dem Hintergrund der Globalisierung mehr und mehr von der Innovationsfähigkeit der ansässigen Unternehmen bestimmt. Nicht von ungefähr verkörpert die Förderung von Innovationsaktivitäten daher einen wesentlichen Bestandteil des politischen Handelns. Das Förderinstrumentarium ist dabei entweder implizit oder explizit, z. B. wenn bestimmte Regionen im Förderfokus stehen, mit räumlichen Schwerpunkten verbunden. Der vorliegende Beitrag diskutiert kritisch, inwiefern die "Region" im Rahmen der Innovationspolitik eine geeignete Handlungsebene darstellt und zeigt auf, welche Zielkonflikte aufgrund der unterschiedlichen Ausrichtung der Förderansätze bestehen.
