Abstract

Nach dem Ende des Ersten Weltkrieges wurde im November 1918 die Erste Republik ausgerufen. Den bitteren Nachkriegsjahren folgte bald eine Weltwirtschaftskrise, welche in Kriegsvorbereitungen für den Zweiten Weltkrieg mündete. Nach seinem Ende lag die heimische Wirtschaft erneut darnieder. Im Anschluss an die Wiederaufbauarbeiten setzte eine erstaunliche Aufholdynamik ein. Heutzutage zählt Österreich zu einem der reichsten Länder der Welt.
