Kennzeichen des österreichischen Arbeitsmarktes im EU-Vergleich

Abstract

Österreich nimmt gemessen an der Gesamtperformance des Arbeitsmarktes unter den EU-Ländern eine sehr gute Position ein. Die Beschäftigungsintegration der Bevölkerung im erwerbsfähigen Alter ist hoch und die Arbeitslosigkeit niedrig, die Einkommensverteilung relativ egalitär und die Armutsgefährdungsquote vergleichsweise niedrig. Allerdings sind auch Tendenzen einer Segmentierung des Arbeitsmarktes und einer Verfestigung von Arbeitslosigkeit und Niedriglohnbeschäftigung festzustellen. Die Beschäftigungsintegration variiert in Österreich erheblich nach Geschlecht, Alter, Ausbildungsstand, Gesundheitsstatus und Herkunft. Zu den gegenwärtigen Herausforderungen zählen eine nach wie vor niedrige Erwerbsbeteiligung älterer Arbeitskräfte, ein stark ausgeprägtes Lohngefälle zwischen Männern und Frauen und ein markanter Unterschied der Erwerbsbeteiligung zwischen Müttern und Vätern.
