Österreichische Umwelttechnikindustrie: Entwicklung – Schwerpunkte – Innovationen

Abstract

In der österreichischen Umwelttechnikindustrie stieg die Zahl der Unternehmen (laut Hochschätzung aufgrund der WIFO-Erhebungen) von 1993 bis 2007 von 248 auf 375. Der Umsatz hat sich in diesem Zeitraum etwa vervierfacht (von 1,5 Mrd. € auf 6 Mrd. €) und die Beschäftigung verdoppelt (von 11.000 auf rund 22.000 Arbeitskräfte). Die zunehmende Internationalisierung der Branche zeigt sich in einem kontinuierlichen Anstieg der Exportquote. Im Zuge eines Strukturwandels gewinnen in der Branche saubere Technologien – insbesondere im Bereich Energie – gegenüber nachgelagerten Technologien immer mehr an Gewicht. Die Analyse ergab zudem in der österreichischen Umwelttechnikindustrie eine überdurchschnittliche Forschungs- und Innovationsintensität.
