Regionale Konzentration von Migranten in der EU 15

Abstract

Migrationsbewegungen weisen oftmals eine Tendenz zur Bildung regionaler Cluster auf. Auch in den Ländern der EU 15 ist eine erhebliche Konzentration von Migranten in einigen Regionen zu beobachten. Sie variiert jedoch nach Herkunftsländern und Bildungsstand stark. Obwohl sich die regionale Konzentration von Migranten früherer und jüngerer Kohorten insgesamt nicht substantiell unterscheidet, verlagerten sich die Länderpräferenzen im Zeitablauf deutlich. Dies gilt besonders für Migranten aus den neuen EU-Ländern in Ostmitteleuropa (Beitritt 2004), schließt jedoch Netzwerk- und Herdenmigration – auch aus diesen Ländern – nicht aus. Vielmehr sind diese Unterschiede zwischen Kohorten auf uneinheitliche Veränderungen der institutionellen Rahmenbedingungen in der EU 15 ("Übergangsfristen") zurückzuführen.
