La economía y su pretensión de ciencia exacta: Un comentario respecto del ejercicio académico de la profesión

Abstract

La presente nota plantea que reducir el estudio de la economía a su dimensión formal, entendida ésta como el componente matemático/estadístico subyacente, podría ser altamente perjudicial para su desarrollo académico e intelectual. Para ello, se plantean una serie de riesgos consistentes con poner un excesivo foco en dicha arista formal, para posteriormente analizar que está ocurriendo actualmente en la enseñanza misma de la economía y cómo eso se relaciona con los problemas descritos previamente. Se concluye con un llamado al pluralismo en el estudio y enseñanza de economía, dado los problemas asociados al escaso diálogo existente entre las distintas maneras de realizar investigación económica, y entre la economía y otras disciplinas, en relación a la realización de investigación rigurosa y relevante para el mundo real.
