Abstract

[eng] In 1986, the labor force increased less than anticipated - With the passing of time, the evolutions of employment and unemployment during the year 1986 can be better evaluated. The labor force progressed less than expected as the economic situation can be held responsible for some of the withdrawals from or defering of entry into the labor market, notably for women. Nevertheless this resulted in an increase of unemployment as the number of jobs supplied did not increase. Indeed, the new jobs supplied are often very peculiar (fixed-term contracts, training programs for example) and they do not entirely compensate for the ones that have disappeared. However, unemployement has increased probably less than it was forecast last Spring.
