Interaction measurement of success factors in the telemedicine development: Using a grey heterogeneous influence and strength attenuation technique

Abstract

Telemedicine systems provide a virtual healthcare solution and thus have emerged as a significant service model in recent years. Hospitals can leverage the advantages of telemedicine to establish direct connections with patients at home, thereby enhancing the efficiency of medical consultations. However, the development of telemedicine is a complex and challenging undertaking, so it often makes patients confused and hesitant in using intricate medical resources on these platforms. This study introduces a novel hybrid model to unveil the intricate interplay of mutual positive and negative impact relationships among critical factors in the telemedicine development. This model provides decision-makers with valuable insights for crafting effective policies and strategies in telemedicine advancement. The study delves into a comprehensive set of 14 critical success factors that play an integral role in the successful development of telemedicine. In terms of methodology, the proposed Grey Heterogeneous Influence and Strength Attenuation (Grey HISA) approach ensures a more refined preservation of latent information in the process of analysis. Additionally, the model enhances the efficacy of well-established dependency exploration methods. Beyond its primary focus on Taiwan's telemedicine landscape, the research's implications extend to a broader context which can serve as a transferable blueprint applicable to various countries and regions. This rendered it a guiding resource for the development of telemedicine, especially in the face of global challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
