Abstract

As a new type of coupling element, memristor coupler can cause many intricate phenomena in its coupling network. This paper focuses on the synchronization effects of the nonlinearities of coupling memristors in a network achieved by coupling two identical memristive Chua's systems with a memristor. Memristor couplers with hyperbolic tangential and cubic memductance nonlinearities are chosen as two paradigms. Using Lyapunov's stability theorem, their synchronization effects are theoretically demonstrated through deriving the synchronization conditions. On this basis, the synchronization behaviors for the hyperbolic memristor coupler are explored under different initial condition settings. Complete synchronization with tiny initial condition mismatches and parallel offset synchronization with memristor and non-memristor initial condition mismatches are numerically uncovered. FPGA hardware implementation is finally performed and the typical synchronization behaviors are verified by hardware experiments.
