Work-family policy and female entrepreneurship: Evidence from China's subsidized child care program

Abstract

•In China, the child care reform significantly increases female entrepreneurship without influencing male entrepreneurship.•The child care reform is more important to opportunity-driven entrepreneurs.•Work-family policy helps close the gender gap in entrepreneurship.
