Abstract

The European Green Deal was implemented in order to ensure climate neutrality objectives for Horizon 2030, to ensure economic growth decoupled from the use of natural resources and for a fair and inclusive transition. In this context, including against the backdrop of multiple energy, economic, environmental, climate change and biodiversity loss crises, we propose to carry out an extended analysis of the impact of the Green Deal on regional economic development at European level. The study will highlight the main achievements of the European regional policy in the perspective of the European Green Deal and will determine on the basis of a cluster analysis the level of regional disparity by analyzing the main Green Deal indicators. The analysis will allow to highlight the main effects of the implementation of the European Green Deal from the perspective of the transition towards climate neutrality and the effects of these measures at European level. Regional disparities will also be assessed on the basis of cluster analysis of the evolution of the main indicators on environmental protection, energy security and sustainable economic growth. The results of the study will be useful to supranational decision-makers in the European Union for the adjustment of public policies for balanced economic development at EU level in the light of the Green Deal commitments undertaken for the 2030 horizon.
