Turismo termal como opción de turismo de bienestar en Colombia: un estudio exploratorio

Abstract

Colombia ha identificado el turismo como uno de los sectores de la economía nacional con mayor potencial para mejorar la productividad nacional, lo que convierte al subsector del turismo de salud y bienestar en una de las áreas estratégicas de particular interés. Sin embargo, el conocimiento disponible acerca de las alternativas de turismo de bienestar en el país es aún incipiente, por lo cual la academia nacional debe generar respuestas que ayuden a nutrir esta necesidad de conocimiento. En este contexto, mediante la aplicación de una metodología de investigación cualitativa exploratoria, a través de la observación participante, el presente estudio analiza la oferta de termales y aguas medicinales como alternativas que pueden tener un potencial para el turismo de bienestar en Colombia. Para esto, se eligieron y analizaron como casos de estudio los municipios de Nuquí, Aguascalientes y Machetá. La investigación permite comparar los ambientes explorados y ofrecer recomendaciones preliminares como fruto de dicho estudio.
