Bilinguismo en Colombia

Abstract

Este estudio analiza el bilinguismo espanol-inglés en el sector educativo colombiano, utilizando el Marco Común Europeo de Referencia para Lenguas como medida indicativa del dominio de esta lengua extranjera. Los resultados demuestran que Colombia es un país con un bajo nivel de inglés, lo cual puede constatarse al cuantificar la proporción de estudiantes y docentes en niveles relacionados con un bajo dominio del idioma, y en los puntajes obtenidos por los colombianos en exámenes internacionales que miden el desarrollo de las distintas competencias linguísticas. Esta situación es persistente, pues no se observan avances significativos en el desempeno de los estudiantes en las pruebas de inglés estandarizadas. Ello refleja la poca probabilidad de que se cumplan las metas de avance en el bilinguismo propuestas por el Ministerio de Educación Nacional hacia 2019. Por esta razón se razón se recomienda ajustarlas.
