La violencia sicológica contra las mujeres en Colombia

Abstract

Resumen: A pesar de la creciente importancia que ha tomado el tema de la violencia contra las mujeres, esescasa la atención que se le ha brindado al fenómeno de la violencia sicológica de pareja, un problema cuya incidencia es mayor al de la violencia física contra la mujer. Este documento se basa eninformación de la Encuesta Nacional de Demografía y Salud (ENDS) 2005 para evaluar la principalpredicción de los modelos de violencia de pareja. Resultados del análisis empírico muestranfactores asociados a la violencia, por ejemplo, las mujeres que tienen un mayor nivel educativo(proxy de independencia) experimentan menos violencia de pareja. Otros factores como crecer enuna familia violenta y/o pobre, y vivir en regiones diferentes a Bogotá están asociados con unamayor probabilidad de experimentar violencia sicológica de pareja.Abstract:Although violence against women has gain attention, there is little evidence of studies about phycological violence against a partner. This paper uses data from Encuesta Nacional de Demografíay Salud (ENDS) to assess empirically models of violence against a partner. One of the main findingsis that the higher the economic independence of the women, the lower the phycological violence against a partner. Some other results show that women with higher education level, belonging to a violent or low income family and living in cities different from Bogotá is correlated with higher probability of phycological violence.
