Wie soll die Wirtschaftspolitik der Europäischen Union zukünftig aussehen? – Ergebnisse einer Unternehmensbefragung

Abstract

Im Auftrag der Stiftung Familienunternehmen befragte das ifo Institut etwa 1 400 Familien- und Nicht-Familienunternehmen zu dem Thema »Wirtschaftspolitik für eine starke EU«. Die Unternehmen wurden gebeten, ihre Einschätzung abzugeben, ob sie eine Vertiefung der europäischen Integration als sinnvoll erachten und in welchen Politikfeldern sie mehr oder weniger Engagement von der EU erwarten. Die Unternehmen sprachen sich bezüglich der Kompetenzverteilung zwischen der EU und der nationalstaatlichen Ebene für die Beibehaltung des Status quo aus und wünschten, entgegen europaskeptischer Tendenzen, mehrheitlich keine (Rück-)Verlagerung von Zuständigkeiten auf die nationalstaatliche Ebene. Den größten Handlungsbedarf für die Europäische Union sahen die befragten Unternehmen im Hinblick auf die Verbesserung der Wettbewerbsfähigkeit. 85,6% der Befragungsteilnehmer wünschten sich mehr Engagement von der Europäischen Union zur Stärkung der globalen Wettbewerbsfähigkeit. Darüber hinaus erwarteten 74,3% der Unternehmen verstärkte Anstrengungen der EU in Bezug auf die Verwirklichung des digitalen Binnenmarktes. Mehr als 70% äußerten den Wunsch, die EU möge verstärkt gegen Steuervermeidung angehen. Knapp 66% befürworteten den Abschluss von weiteren Freihandelsabkommen mit Drittstaaten durch die EU. Und eine deutliche Mehrheit der Unternehmen (59,5%) erwartete von der EU verstärkte Anstrengungen für den Umwelt- und Klimaschutz.
