E-Business: Ökonomische Strategien und Wirkungen der industriellen Anwendung der Internettechnologie

Abstract

Im Auftrag des Bundesministeriums für Wirtschaft und Arbeit untersuchte das ifo Institut, welche Bedeutung die Internettechnologie für Unternehmen hat, welche Faktoren die Diffusion beeinflussen und welche strukturellen Wirkungen von der Verbreitung von Internetanwendungen zu erwarten sind. Es zeigte sich, dass die Anwendungsziele in erster Linie die Reduzierung von Kosten und von Prozesszeiten sind. Große Unternehmen haben aufgrund von Bündelungs-, Standardisierungs- und Skaleneffekten Nutzungsvorteile, doch auch kleine und mittlere Unternehmen können von Internetanwendungen profitieren, wenn sie sich aktiv mit der Technologie befassen und sich, wo erforderlich, an kooperativen Lösungen beteiligen. Die Hoffnung, dass durch die Diffusion des E-Business ein neuer Dienstleistungssektor entsteht, hat sich dagegen nur teilweise erfüllt.
