Ausmaß und Effekte von Schulschließungen. Österreich im internationalen Vergleich

Abstract

Die Maßnahmen gegen die COVID-19-Pandemie haben dazu geführt, dass Schulen in den meisten EU-Ländern (zum Teil) geschlossen wurden. Internationale Daten zu Schulschließungen zeigen, dass sich Österreich in der Anfangsphase der Pandemie ähnlich wie die meisten anderen untersuchten Länder verhielt. In der zweiten Phase zwischen September 2020 und Juni 2021 waren die Schulen jedoch vergleichsweise lange geschlossen, während andere Länder ohne weitere Schulschließungen durch die COVID-19-Pandemie kamen. Die internationale Literatur zu den Effekten von Schulschließungen zeigt mehrheitlich, dass Schulschließungen durch die COVID-19-Pandemie vor allem die jüngeren Schulkinder als auch die Gruppe der Schulkinder aus sozioökonomisch benachteiligten Haushalten besonders getroffen haben, sodass ein nachhaltiger Förderfokus auf diese Gruppen gelegt werden sollte. Für Österreich liegen bislang nur Befragungsbefunde zu den Auswirkungen von Schulschließungen vor. Nun gilt es, diese Erkenntnisse um standardisierte Leistungstests zu ergänzen, um das Förderstundenpaket gezielt und evidenzbasiert weiterzuentwickeln.
