Les creations d'emplois par les petits producteurs du secteur manufacturier canadien

Abstract

On utilise ici les donnees sur le renouvellement des emplois pour comparer dans quelle mesure les creations d'emplois, les disparitions d'emplois et la variation nette different selon les petits et les grands etablissements du secteur canadien de la fabrication. Plusieurs techniques servent a corriger le probleme du retour a la moyenne qui, comme on l'a laisse entendre, pourrait se traduire par la conclusion erronee que les petits etablissements creent un nombre disproportionne de nouveaux emplois. L'etude conclut que le nombre net de nouveaux emplois crees pour les petits etablissements est plus eleve que celui des grands etablissements lorsqu'on apporte ces corrections. L'etude compare aussi l'importance des petits et des grands etablissements du secteur de la fabrication du Canada et des Etats-Unis. On sait que le secteur canadien de la fabrication se caracterise par une proportion plus elevee d'emplois dans les etablissements plus petits, mais qu'il possede aussi un secteur des petits etablissements dont l'importance relative augmente par rapport a celui des Etats-Unis.
