Kiedy mieæ dziecko? Jakoœciowe badanie procesu odraczania decyzji o rodzicielstwie

Abstract

Podstawowym celem niniejszego artyku³u jest pog³êbienie naszej wiedzy na temat opóŸniania rodzicielstwa w Polsce po 1990 roku. W literaturze socjologicznej, demograficznej i ekonomicznej zosta³o omówione wiele czynników, potencjalnie odpowiedzialnych za ten proces. Jednak nadal brakuje nam wiedzy na temat wzajemnych relacji pomiêdzy tymi czynnikami oraz badañ, które oceni³yby ich rolê w indywidualnym procesie podejmowania decyzji o momencie urodzenia dziecka. Staramy siê wype³niæ tê lukê poprzez analizê jakoœciow¹ 48 wywiadów pog³êbionych, przeprowadzonych w Warszawie, w latach 2004– 2005. W prezentowanych tutaj badaniach oddajemy g³os respondentom, aby zobaczyæ w jaki sposób oni sami postrzegaj¹ rozmaite czynniki i w jaki sposób bior¹ je pod uwagê, gdy podejmuj¹ decyzjê: kiedy mieæ dziecko? Przedstawione wyniki analiz pozwalaj¹ na dok³adne scharakteryzowanie warunków, które nasi respondenci uwaSaj¹ za konieczne do posiania dzieci i na zrozumienie ich relatywnej wagi dla odraczania rodzicielstwa. UmoSliwiaj¹ równieS lepszy wgl¹d w sam proces podejmowania decyzji o posiadaniu dzieci.
