Abstract

"The report analyses the extent of long-term nonemployment and its composition in Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, and Britain in the years 2008 and 2012. It turns out that in Germany, long-term unemployment is relatively high, whereas the rate of long-term disabled persons is relatively low, compared to other countries. This can be explained by differences in the availability and generosity of social transfers. The overall extent of long-term nonemployment in Germany has decreased in recent years and is now lower than in the other countries except Sweden." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
