Import tariffs, domestic distortions and "market linkages"

Abstract

L'article développe un modèle d'équilibre général à deux pays et trois produits dans lequel la situation initiale n'est pas un équilibre de libre-échange. On montre alors qu'un droit de douane à l'importation d'un des produits est susceptible d'entraîner une perte nette de bien-être économique pour le pays considéré dès que deux des produits sont compléments au niveau des échanges, ou quand ils sont moins substituts, en termes d'échange, dans le pays considéré que dans le reste du monde. Ce modèle théorique est ensuite illustré par le problème de la limitation des importations communautaires de corn gluten feed et de soja.
