Quels écarts de rémunérations entre salariés associatifs et salariés du secteur privé ?

Abstract

Les salariés du secteur sans but lucratif sont-ils moins payés que leurs homologues du reste du secteur privé ? La littérature économique est partagée sur cette question mais, sur le plan empirique, la comparaison des salaires entre les deux secteurs conduit à des résultats fort variables selon les domaines d'activité. De telles investigations à des niveaux désagrégés de la nomenclature d'activité sont très rares en France. Le présent article se propose d'y contribuer en comparant les salaires dans les associations à ceux du secteur privé dans quatre domaines : le social et médico-social, la santé, la culture ainsi que le sport et les loisirs. L'étude ne se limite pas au seul salaire horaire mais considère également le salaire annuel des postes occupés par les salariés et prend donc en compte le volume horaire de ces postes. Il apparaît alors que c'est dans la culture et dans le sport que l'écart salarial est véritablement défavorable aux salariés des associations et l'hypothèse est faite que cette situation traduit la professionnalisation tardive des associations de ces domaines.
