Does the Bénin's labour market discriminate?

Abstract

The present study aimed to analyze the gender discrimination presence in Bénin's labour market. For this purpose, a theoretical model inspired by Oaxaca and Blinder, and the Fairlie's approach is developed. The data used provide of EMICoV 2015. The results highlight a significant difference between men and women not only in terms of chances of access to employment, but also in terms of remuneration, differences which are to the disadvantage of women. also, 80.60% of the differences in remuneration are not explained by differences in productivity between men and women, and the women's professional experience is the most undervalued factor.
