Abstract

La communication étudie le rôle du territoire et des technologies de l'information et de la communication (TIC) dans la capacité d'innovation des entreprises. La recherche analyse spécifiquement l'impact combiné de ces deux facteurs. La recherche s'inscrit dans une approche ressources et fait l'hypothèse que la mobilisation des TIC aura un impact plus important sur la capacité d'innovation des entreprises localisées dans les territoires de faible densité car ces technologies leur permettent de compenser le potentiel en ressources plus restreint de ces territoires. L'investigation empirique s'intéresse à la capacité d'innovation des PME au sens large (lancement de nouveaux produits ou procédés) d'un échantillon représentatif de 1253 PME régionales, complété par des données de localisation (densité des espaces et zone d'emplois). Nos données mettent en évidence un effet positif des TIC sur la capacité d'innovation et un effet relatif de la localisation, qui reste très lié à la mesure adoptée pour caractériser l'environnement territorial. En outre, l'investigation met en évidence l'absence d'effet combiné TIC-densité sur la capacité d'innovation, ce qui invalide notre hypothèse d'un éventuel rôle de compensation des technologies pour les entreprises localisées dans des espaces de faible densité. Ces résultats sont discutés et analysés au regard de la littérature existante.
