La maratón de PISA: La perseverancia como factor del éxito en una prueba de competencias

Abstract

Existe una creciente atención sobre la importancia de la personalidad y las habilidades no cognitivas en el futuro personal y profesional de los estudiantes. Estudios recientes relacionan ciertos rasgos de la personalidad con unos mejores resultados académicos, laborales o de salud. Dada la no observabilidad directa de las habilidades cognitivas y no cognitivas, existe un complejo problema de identifi cación que constituye el principal obstáculo en este campo de investigación. Encontramos, sin embargo, algunas estrategias para intentar diferenciar las habilidades cognitivas de las no cognitivas. Como apuntan Borghans y Schils (2012), en pruebas estandarizadas como PISA, generalmente los estudiantes responden peor las últimas preguntas que las primeras. Este decaimiento del rendimiento, no está relacionado con las competencias evaluadas en la prueba y se usa como una medida de la perseverancia de los estudiantes o de otras habilidades no cognitivas.
