Abstract

L’impressionnante progression du tourisme de croisière en Dominique, au sein de la zone hautement concurrentielle de la Caraïbe, confère à l’île une dimension iconique de réussite dans le développement de cette activité. L’article propose une analyse des bénéfices et des bénéficiaires du développement de la croisière en Dominique. Il adopte une approche systémique, et démontre que trois acteurs : les agences de voyages locales, les commerces de souvenirs et les compagnies de croisières concentrent plus de 70 % des retombées financières de l’activité. La faible dispersion du nombre de bénéficiaires est concomitante d’une concentration spatiale de l’activité de croisière. L’article révèle que la forte concentration des bénéficiaires s’accompagne de la faiblesse des bénéfices macroéconomiques de l’activité de croisière en Dominique. Le cas de cette île interroge les liens entre concentration des bénéficiaires et développement de la croisière ; mais également sur sa fragilité.
