La demanda de trabajo:Aspectos teóricos y evidencia empírica para Colombia

Abstract

Este documento presenta algunos de los aspectos teóricos más importantes para el análisis de la demanda de trabajo, así como la evidencia empírica disponible para el caso colombiano. En cuanto a los aspectos teóricos, al exposición se centra en la discusión microeconómica concerniente a las propiedades de la demanda de trabajo del empresario maximizador de utilidades que enfrenta un proceso productivo con dos factores (K,L). Luego se discuten las implicaciones de los procesos de liberalización de las economías en la demanda de trabajo. La revisión de la literatura efectuada para el caso colombiano muestra como, en general, los estimativos de las elasticidades de la demanda por trabajadores frente al producto y el salario real difieren sustancialmente debido a la diversidad de especificaciones econométricas, la temporalidad de los datos y las fuentes de los mismos.
