La Participación Laboral En Colombia

Abstract

La oferta laboral está determinada por la decisión de participar en el mercado laboral. Este documento reporta los resultados de la estimación econométrica de un modelo de la tasa de participación (siete ciudades) para cuatro categorías de miembros del hogar: mujeres comprometidas (casadas o en unión permanente), mujeres no comprometidas (solteras, viudas o separadas), hombres comprometidos y hombres comprometidos, con base la Encuesta Nacional de Hogares (ENH) del DANE para el período 1984:1-2000:4. Las diferencias entre estos grupos son significativas. Entre los principales determinantes de efecto positivo de la tasa de participación se destacan la tasa de desempleo de otros miembros del hogar, la edad y el nivel educativo alcanzado; el principal determinante de efecto negativo es la riqueza de los hogares. Según el modelo, la tasa de participación cae ante disminuciones en la tasa de desempleo.
