Efectos En Bienestar De La Represión Financiera

Abstract

En Colombia, a partir de 1998 y por diversas razones, se optó por elevar en grado importante un conjunto de impuestos a la intermediación financiera. Algunos de estos impuestos también se han utilizado en otros países de América Latina, otros son particulares a Colombia. En este trabajo hacemos la siguiente pregunta: ¿Cuáles han sido los efectos de estos a la intermediación financiera implementadas en Colombia entre 1998 y 2000? En particular, estudiamos los efectos sobre la taa de crecimiento y sobre el bienestar. Usamo un modelo de equilibrio general, calibrado con datos colombianos, en el cual hay tres impuestos disponibles a la autoridad: un impuesto al consumo, uno a la intermeciación y uno al ingreso. Concluimos queel impuesto ala intermediación es el más costoso, tanto en términos de crecimiento, como de bienestar.
