Acreage Response Estimation Through a Systems Approach

Abstract

A simple theoretical model is developed to show the advantages of a multi-equation approach to acreage response estimation. These principally involve the elimination of concern with land costs and the estimation of substitution relations among crops and effects from land expansion. The model is applied to the Midwest.
