¿Menos es Siempre Más?: Efectos del tamaño del aula en el rendimiento educativo en el contexto de la Transición Demográfica en Argentina

Abstract

En los últimos 8 años se observó una caída del 36% de los nacidos vivos en Argentina. Esta caída representa un desafío en términos de política pública dado el impacto en la matrícula escolar que esto conlleva. Con el reordenamiento de recursos para la educación surgen distintas alternativas de cómo aprovechar esta ventana de oportunidad para mejorar los aprendizajes de los estudiantes. En este trabajo se pone foco una de las políticas posibles: la modificación del tamaño del aula. A través de explotar la variabilidad cuasiexperimental surgida por la cantidad de alumnos por aula en Argentina, este trabajo encuentra evidencia robusta y estadísticamente significativa de que 1 alumno más en el aula aumenta en 5,986 puntos el puntaje de las pruebas Aprender (primaria - 2023) de Lengua. En matemática no se encuentran efectos.
