Estimación de las diferencias por género en la demanda de educación universitaria en Colombia: 1990 - 2010

Abstract

El objetivo de este documento es analizar las diferencias por género en la demanda de educación universitaria en Colombia. El análisis se basa en los modelos microeconométricos de elección discreta Probit que son estimados de forma robusta y a los cuales se les incorpora la corrección del sesgo de selección muestral para garantizar la eficiencia y consistencia de los estimadores. Los datos utilizados son cortes transversales provenientes de la Encuesta de Hogares de Colombia realizada por el Departamento Administrativo Nacional de Estadísticas (DANE) para los años 1995, 2000, 2005 y 2010. Los principales resultados muestran diferencias en la igualdad de oportunidades educativas en la demanda de educación universitaria, ya que factores como la educación de los padres, la composición del hogar y los ingresos afectan a hombres y mujeres de forma diferente.
