Flexibilität in Unternehmen: Eine theoretische und empirische Analyse

Abstract

Die vorliegende Dissertation beschäftigt sich mit verschiedenen mikroökonomischen Konzepten zur Analyse der Flexibilität und wendet diese Konzepte in einer empirischen Analyse des polnischen Agrarsektors an. Der Schwerpunkt des theoretischen Teils der Arbeit liegt in der Messung der Flexibilität von Unternehmen. Diese kann, je nach Fragestellung oder Datenverfügbarkeit, über verschiedene Darstellungen der Produktionstechnologie erfolgen und damit verschiedene Aspekte der Anpassungsfähigkeit hervorheben. Der erste innovative Beitrag besteht in der Weiterentwicklung des existierenden Flexibilitätsmaßes für Mehrproduktunternehmen. Zum einen wird durch die Berücksichtigung der Rolle der quasi-fixen Faktoren zwischen kurz- und langfristigen Anpassungen unterschieden. Zum anderen werden mithilfe der mikroökonomischen Dualitätstheorie alternative primale Darstellungen des Flexibilitätsmaßes entwickelt. Der zweite theoretische Beitrag zur Flexibilitätsliteratur besteht in der Verknüpfung der bekannten mikroökonomischen Konzepte der Produktionsanalyse mit Flexibilität. Die Dekomposition des Flexibilitätsmaßes liefert wertvolle Erkenntnisse über die möglichen Quellen der Anpassungsfähigkeit, vor allem durch die Untersuchung der Rolle von Größen- und Verbundeffekten für die Anpassungsfähigkeit von Unternehmen. Bei der Beurteilung der Fähigkeit von Unternehmen, sich an eine sich verändernde Nachfrage anzupassen, sollten sich Entscheidungsträger dessen bewusst sein, in welchem Maße Flexibilität durch solche Faktoren wie starke positive Skaleneffekte, fehlende Kostenkomplementarität zwischen den Outputs und dem Verlauf der Grenzkostenfunktion beeinträchtigt werden kann.
