Arbeitsproduktivität - nachlassende Dynamik in Deutschland und Europa

Abstract

Die Arbeitsproduktivität ist ein Maß für die Leistungsfähigkeit einer Volkswirtschaft, ihre Entwicklung bestimmt wesentlich den materiellen Wohlstand. Daher gilt das rückläufige Trendwachstum der Arbeitsproduktivität in vielen Ländern als nicht zu unterschätzende Herausforderung. Dies betrifft auch und besonders Deutschland mit seiner perspektivisch abnehmenden Erwerbsbevölkerung. Der Artikel zeigt die Entwicklung der gesamtwirtschaftlichen Arbeitsproduktivität in den fünf größten Volkswirtschaften Europas und analysiert den Beitrag wichtiger Wirtschaftsbereiche sowie der beiden Komponenten, die der Arbeitsproduktivität zugrunde liegen. Er erläutert mögliche Ursachen für das rückläufige Produktivitätswachstum und beleuchtet die besondere Rolle der Digitalisierung in diesem Kontext.
