Zurück in die Zukunft!? Die Wiederkehr kommunaler Wohnungspolitik

Abstract

Trotz einer Entwicklung zu mehr Deregulierung und Finanzialisierung der Wohnungsmärkte leitete Berlin vor einigen Jahren einen Prozess ein, bei welchem die öffentliche Hand wieder zunehmend in die Wohnungsversorgung eingreift. Diese Wiederkehr kommunaler Wohnungsversorgung mag vor dem Hintergrund massiver Liberalisierungen in den 1990er und 2000er Jahren überraschen, jedoch ist eine aktive öffentliche Wohnungspolitik in Berlin aus historischer Perspektive nicht neu, galt die Stadt doch vor der Phase der Marktderegulierung jahrzehntelang als Hochburg kommunaler Wohnraumversorgung. Diese intensive öffentliche Auseinandersetzung mit der städtischen Wohnungsversorgung wird aktuell wiederentdeckt.
