Centrope als zentrale Übergangsregion in Europa

Abstract

Die Region "Centrope" wurde vor wenigen Jahren als politische Plattform für grenzüberschreitende Kooperationen etabliert und umfasst Teile von Österreich, Tschechien, der Slowakei und Ungarn. Centrope bildet einen institutionellen Rahmen, der dazu beitragen soll, dass sich die Region langfristig zu einem integrierten Wirtschaftsraum entwickelt. Derzeit ist sie durch eine "Wohlstandskante" geteilt, Barrieren verhindern intensive Wirtschaftsbeziehungen. Centrope weist aber Standortvorteile auf, die in eine dynamische Entwicklung umgesetzt wurden. Wichtige Wachstumsmotoren sind ausländische Direktinvestitionen und Warenexporte.
