Les effets de l’urbanisation et de l’industrialisation sur l’intensité énergétique dans la CEDEAO

Abstract

Cet article a pour objectif d’évaluer les effets de l’urbanisation et de l’industrialisation sur l’intensité énergétique dans la Communauté Economique des Etats de l’Afrique de l’Ouest (CEDEAO), et en son sein dans les pays de l’UEMOA et hors-UEMOA. L’intensité énergétique est définie comme le rapport de la consommation d’énergie au produit intérieur brut. Les estimations économétriques à l’aide du modèle ARDL (Auto-Regressive Distributed Lag) avec l’estimateur PMG (Pooled Mean Group) mon-trent sur la période 1990-2019 que l’urbanisation et l’industrialisation augmentent chacune l’intensité énergétique à long terme alors que leur effet combiné tend à la réduire à partir d’un certain seuil. Ces résultats s’expliquent particulièrement par la présence de pays producteurs de pétrole dans la zone hors-UEMOA.
