Abstract

Zusammenfassung Während Populismus in Europa weiterhin weitverbreitet ist, sieht sich der Kontinent mit einer neuen Flüchtlingsdynamik konfrontiert. Nach der Krise von 2015/2016 ist die EU nun damit beschäftigt, die Herausforderungen der ukrainischen Zuwanderung besser und effizienter zu bewältigen. Aufgrund geopolitischer Veränderungen und zunehmender globaler Ungleichheit ist auch in Zukunft mit weiterer Zuwanderung zu rechnen. Da häufig die These vertreten wird, dass die Zuwanderung Populismus und die Unterstützung für rechtsextreme Parteien verstärkt, kann dies zu politischer Instabilität und Spaltung führen. In diesem Beitrag wird der Zusammenhang zwischen regionalen Disparitäten in der Flüchtlingskrise 2015/2016 und dem Erfolg der AfD bei der Bundestagswahl 2017 untersucht.
