Von Risiko zu Resilienz — Zum Umgang mit Unerwartetem aus Organisationsperspektive

Abstract

Incalculable uncertainties, as opposed to calculable risks, characterize a large number of unexpected events that globally operating companies face. Against this background, it is surprising that there are hardly any managerial approaches that tackle the phenomenon while venturing beyond ex ante calculable risks. Based upon a literature review, a first step towards a practicing uncertainty framework is called for, arguing that managing unexpected events differs from risk approaches. Towards this end, moving from mere risk calculations to insights from resilience research is advocated.
