Welche Faktoren beeinflussen den Erfolg im wirtschaftswissenschaftlichen Studium?

Abstract

Zusammenfassung Der vorliegende Beitrag untersucht mit Daten von Studierenden aus Hannover, Paderborn und Regensburg, welche Faktoren den Erfolg im wirtschaftswissenschaftlichen Studium beeinflussen. Die Ergebnisse zeigen einen deutlichen Zusammenhang zwischen Abitur und Studienerfolg. Dies betrifft sowohl die Abiturnote als auch die während der Schulzeit gewählten Leistungskurse. Bezüglich des Elternhauses ergibt sich ein differenziertes Bild. Während ein Studium der Mutter positiv auf den eigenen Studienerfolg wirkt, verhält es sich bei einem Studium des Vaters entgegengesetzt. Darüber hinaus spielt die Zeitallokation eine Rolle. Restriktionen durch Erwerbstätigkeit sowie Probleme mit der selbständigen Zeiteinteilung beeinträchtigen den Studienerfolg, während bei einer starken Freizeitorientierung das Gegenteil der Fall ist. Schließlich lassen sich geschlechtsspezifische und altersbedingte Einflüsse nachweisen. Die bildungs- und unternehmenspolitischen Implikationen der Ergebnisse werden diskutiert.
