Führen Patentanmeldungen zu einem nachfolgenden Anstieg des Unternehmenserfolges? — Eine Panelanalyse

Abstract

Zusammenfassung In dem Beitrag wird der zeitverzögerte Zusammenhang zwischen Patentanmeldungen und Unternehmenserfolg auf der Basis von Paneldaten für 41 Unternehmen des Maschinenbaus untersucht. Es wird gezeigt, daß nationale Patentanmeldungen zu Umsatzzuwächsen zwei bis drei Jahre nach der Anmeldung führen. Qualitativ höherwertige europäische Patentanmeldungen führen zu stärkeren Umsatzzuwächsen mit einer Zeitverzögerung von zwei Jahren nach der Anmeldung. Patente spiegeln demnach marktrelevante technologische Entwicklungen wider. Dieser Befund macht Patente zu einer wertvollen Informationsquelle zum Zweck der strategischen Planung von F&E.
