Effects of retail market structure and production conditions on firm’s location selections of fragmented production process

Abstract

Produzierende Unternehmen unterteilen ihre Produktionsprozesse zur Reduktion der Gesamtproduktionskosten in Abschnitte und verlagern jeden dieser Produktionsabschnitte an jenen Standort, der hierfür optimale Bedingungen bietet. Der vorliegende Beitrag untersucht unternehmerische Entscheidungsprozesse bei der Wahl zwischen mehreren potenziellen Standorten für einen Teilabschnitt der Produktion. Für ein Unternehmen, das mit Hilfe eines ungeteilten Produktionsprozesses an einem einzigen Standort produziert, wird diesbezüglich zunächst dargelegt, dass die im Handel etablierte Form des Wettbewerbs den Preis, die Menge der produzierten Güter und den Profit dieses Produzenten beeinflussen. Für den Fall, dass das Unternehmen den Produktionsprozess nun in zwei Abschnitte unterteilt und den Standort für einen Teilabschnitt der Produktion aus mehreren möglichen wählt, kann weiterhin aufgezeigt werden, dass der Absatzmarkt und die Produktionsbedingungen der potenziellen Standorte die Standortwahl der Firma entscheidend beeinflussen.Produzierende Unternehmen siedeln die Teile ihrer Produktion nicht automatisch dort an wo sich niedrige Lohnkosten finden, sondern dort wo die ökonomischen Gesamtumstände für ihre Zwecke am geeignetsten sind.
