Innovation, qualité du facteur travail et efficacité productive

Abstract

[eng] Innovation, quality of labour factor and productive efficiency. . . This paper examines the influence of innovation and labour factor quality on the productive efficiency of the firm. We divide our panel composed with individual firms data in several subgroups with a distinction between innovative firms and others. Then, we estimate the same production function in the cases of these different populations. The results clearly indicate that innovative firms are more productive than others. But, by the same time, the value and the explanation of this efficiency gap deeply differ in regard to the kind of innovation that is considered. Thus the relative labour productivity of each job category is significatively affected by the nature (radical versus incremental) and the object (process versus product versus other) of the innovation that has been implemented by the firm. [fre] Cet article analyse l'influence de l'innovation et de la qualité du facteur travail sur l'efficacité productive de la firme. Notre panel est divisé en plusieurs sous-ensembles distinguant entre les firmes innovantes et les autres. Nous estimons la même fonction de production sur ces différentes populations. La comparaison des résultats montre que les entreprises innovantes sont en moyenne plus efficaces que les autres. Mais le niveau et l'origine de cet écart diffèrent sensiblement suivant le type d'innovation considéré. En particulier, le niveau de productivité relative des différentes catégories d'emploi varie nettement suivant la nature (radicale ou incrémentale) et l'objet (procède, produit ou autre) de l'innovation mise en œuvre au sein de l'entreprise.
