Responsabilidad Moral Colectiva. El estatus ontológico de las organizaciones y los límites de la comunidad moral

Abstract

El estatus ontológico y moral de entidades colectivas ha sido y es objeto de debate recurrente en filosofía, ciencias sociales, derecho y ética aplicada. Individualismo y colectivismo moral son las dos tesis clásicas que se ofrecen para justificar o descartar la consideración de las organizaciones como agentes morales. Lo que está en juego en última instancia es la discusión de la naturaleza misma y el concepto de organización como una entidad diferente de la sumatoria de los miembros que la componen. En este artículo se examina el debate sobre la agencia moral de las organizaciones presentando e interpelando los argumentos de ambas teorías y las implicancias teóricas, metodológicas y prácticas que emanan de esta discusión. / The ontological and moral status of collective entities has been the object of an enduring debate in philosophy, social sciences, law and applied ethics. Moral individualism and moral collectivism are the two classical theses addressing the consideration of organizations as moral agents. Ultimately, what is at stake is the very nature and concept of organizations as entities different from the aggregation of their individual members. The debate about corporate moral agency is reexamined in this article by presenting and evaluating the arguments of the two classic theories and the theoretical, methodological and practical implications of this discussion.
