Aredefinition of italian macro-areas: the role of territorial capital

Abstract

Il capitale territoriale ? definito dal sistema di risorse territoriali di natura economica, culturale, sociale e ambientale, che costituisce il potenziale di sviluppo di un luogo. Questo lavoro si propone di misurare la dotazione di capitale territoriale delle province italiane. Il suo obiettivo ? duplice. In primo luogo l?analisi ? finalizzata alla classificazione delle regioni NUTS3 sulla base del loro capitale territoriale e al confronto di tale tassonomia con la rappresentazione suggerita dalla precedente letteratura. In secondo luogo la dotazione di risorse territoriali viene analizzata in relazione alla crescita economica fatta registrare dalle province italiane nel periodo 1999-2008. Il metodo di model-based clustering ? utilizzato per isolare gruppi omogenei di province. Il rapporto tra la performance economica e la dotazione di capitale territoriale ? esplorato attraverso l?analisi di varianza tra cluster. La classificazione delle province italiane presenta, rispetto alla precedente letteratura, sia punti di contatto (il divario tra Nord e Sud) sia punti di divergenza (la localizzazione della cosiddetta Terza Italia). Non ? invece chiara la relazione tra la distribuzione delle risorse territoriali delle province italiane e la loro performance economica
