Abstract

Trombe wall technology, a passive solar design strategy, has garnered significant interest for its potential to reduce building energy consumption. This paper presents a comprehensive review of the evaluation and optimization trends for Trombe walls. The historical evolution and recent advancements in Trombe wall systems are critically analyzed. Furthermore, key optimizing parameters are discussed in detail, including material selection, wall thickness, insulation characteristics, window specifications, vent dimensions, and intelligent control strategies. Common experimental methodologies and simulation approaches employed for Trombe wall optimization are summarized. Finally, current research limitations are identified and future research directions are proposed to fill existing knowledge gaps and facilitate the widespread adoption of optimized Trombe wall systems for improved energy efficiency in buildings.
