Abstract

Au début des années 1990, la traditionnelle relation de compromis «équité-efficacité» a été mise en question par des preuves empiriques suggérant que l'inégalité des revenus avait un impact négatif sur la croissance. Cela a encouragé le développement de plusieurs théories alternatives fondées sur des marchés incomplets, et de travaux empiriques destinés à découvrir quels mécanismes sont les plus importants. Cependant, des découvertes empiriques récentes, aussi bien au niveau micro qu'au niveau macro, ont mis en question, sur plusieurs fronts, cette théorie des marchés incomplets.
