Betriebsgröße als Determinante beruflicher Gratifikationen

Abstract

Das Fazit der Analysen läßt sich in drei Punkten kondensieren: 1. Vor dem Hintergrund der Schlüsselrolle, die der Betriebsgröße in der Literatur über organisationale Determinanten beruflicher Gratifikationen zugemessen wird, fallen die betriebsgrößenbezogenen Unterschiede, die hier auf der Basis eines bundesdeutschen Datensatzes festgestellt werden konnten, überraschend niedrig aus. 2. Entgegen einem weitverbreiteten Eindruck in der Literatur läßt sich eine Beschäftigung in Großbetrieben nicht uneingeschränkt als für Arbeitnehmer vorteilhaft einstufen. Als Beleg hierfür kann man auf den Befund rekurrieren, daß Arbeitszufriedenheit tendenziell negativ mit der Betriebsgröße korreliert. 3. Während sich für Männer - abgesehen von der Arbeitszufriedenheit - eine Beschäftigung in Großbetrieben als der Tendenz nach positiv erweist, erscheint bei Frauen eine Differenzierung notwendig: Sie profitieren zwar in punkto Einkommen von einer Beschäftigung in Großbetrieben, üben dabei allerdings Tätigkeiten mit einem geringeren beruflichen Prestige aus (Arbeitertätigkeiten). Zudem wird ein Mehr an Bildung und Berufserfahrung bei Frauen in Großbetrieben weniger honoriert als bei Frauen in Kleinbetrieben.
